LuK Release bearings

The clutch transfers the power and the release bearing ensures correct function. The release bearing is the connection between the rotating clutch assembly on the engine side and the fixed release mechanism on the transmission side. Trust ball bearings are used to transfer the release loads to the clutch assembly. Modern release bearings are guided on a bushing which is flange mounted on the transmission. The guide sleeve of a release bearing is moved by radial adjustment to guarantee an optimal central position to the diaphragm spring tips of the diaphragm spring clutch when installed. This helps prevent wear in the diaphragm spring finger area.
One in every two new vehicles with clutches now come with a concentric slave cylinder. This combines the clutch slave cylinder and the traditional release bearing in one component.
The release bearing or the concentric slave cylinder should be replaced with every clutch repair.

Advantages of LuK release bearings
  • long life span
  • maintenance-free due to permanent lubrication

Advantages of LuK concentric slave cylinders

  • high level of assembly and functional security and long life span
  • compact construction
  • Automatic readjustment – wear on clutch is compensated for
  • high efficiency – low level of internal friction
  • low pedal forces and wear
  • weight reduction
  • reduction of error causes
  • no traction force through hydraulic load on bolts
